What does a heating thermostat do?

A room thermostat is designed to maintain and regulate a suitable temperature in your home or workplace. According to the settings you apply, the sensor in your thermostat will turn your heating boiler off when the ambient temperature the room reaches a certain level, and will reignite it when it drops below a certain level.

What types of Thermostats do we repair?

There several different types of thermostats that people have fitted. Whatever the type you may have, we here at CW Services Plumbing and Heating can repair, or if necessary, replace it. The various types include:

  • Standard thermostats

  • TRV thermostats – Thermostatic Radiator Valves

  • Programmable thermostats

Whatever the type, and whether it is running an electric or a gas fired central heating system, we can repair any type of thermostat.

The importance of correctly positioning a thermostat

If the thermostat(s) in your home or business premises is fitted in the wrong location, it could result in your room being too hot or too cold. As a general rule, a thermostat should be installed approximately 1.5M above floor level, in a room you regularly use, and that has a radiator fitted. It should not be fitted too close to any other heating devices or cookers and stoves.

  • A correctly fitted thermostat helps to lower heating bills.
